Eric S. Golden was a beloved musician in the greater Chicagoland area. He played for many churches, individuals and groups alike, lending them his musical for many services, concerts and performances.
Eric's musical roots ran deep and started with our parents who played organ and piano. His interest as a musician began around 3 or 4, when he took a liking to playing the drums. However, around age 12, he started playing the keyboard by ear. We had an old 1970 something Fender Rhodes piano in our basement that he would play, and the more he played, the better he became. Eric could pick up and play whatever he heard, exactly how he heard it. And after a starter keyboard or two, our dad bought him this huge Korg keyboard, that lit up his music world.
I believe a big part in his short, yet impactful musical journey are the ones who poured into him, encouraged him and gave him a chance from the start. Doing so gave him a plethora of opportunities to share his musical gift with so many in such a short time.
